It's not everyone who can earn R15.5million for just one evening's work. But when the 'employee' is one of the world's most popular singers - and she turns up dressed like this - then some may consider the fee to be well justified. These are pictures of Beyoncé Knowles performing at a private party for Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi's son Mutasim-Billah on New Year's Eve. The 28-year-old American superstar wore a revealing sparkly leotard for her hour-long set at Nikki Beach on the Caribbean island of St Barts. As she gyrated and sang in front of him on a tiny stage, Mutasim-Billah, Gaddafi's third son, could barely take his eyes off Miss Knowles, who pointed to her wedding ring as she performed her hit Single Ladies.
The small audience included her husband Jay-Z, rock star Jon Bon Jovi, hip-hop singer Usher, actress Lindsay Lohan and a smattering of young female partygoers. Mutasim-Billah - a national security adviser for Libya - smoked cigarettes, drank and laughed with his guests. Many fans of Miss Knowles will raise an eyebrow at her choosing to perform for the son of such a controversial figure. It may also upset relatives of the Lockerbie bomb victims. In 2003,
Gaddafi finally admitted Libya was responsible for bringing down Pan Am Flight 103 en route to New York in 1988, killing 270. And last August he gave a hero's welcome to the only man convicted in connection with the incident, Abdelbaset Al Megrahi, after he was released from a Scottish jail. Another of Gaddafi's sons, known as Hannibal, who was wrongly first reported to have hosted the New Year's Eve party, was involved in an incident at Claridge's Hotel in London on Christmas Day when police were called to his £4,000-a-night suite. Three of his security guards were arrested and his wife, Aline Skaf, was taken to hospital with a broken nose. She later said her injuries were the result of an accidental fall.
